Jim, a former blacksmith, and Terry, a former RN, opened Goose Bay Handblown Glass in 2002. Experienced, passionate, and committed to bringing their customers truly exquisite glass work. They are an excellent choice for any decorative glass project.
Our Process
Glass begins as silica sand which is kept molten at 2,000 degrees in a crucible. Glass pieces begin to take shape by collecting the molten glass onto the end of a blowpipe. This is called the gather. The gather is colored using concentrated frits of colored glass which is then manipulated into a desired pattern. Using the blowpipe, air is blown into the gather, and the piece begins to take shape. Using special tools, the piece then takes its final shape. Once completed, the pieces are placed into a cooling oven overnight.
